Looking for anyone who may have info about an emblem I am researching I believe to be the 416th Bomb Group's "Unofficial" design, the emblem is on a "shield" shape , has a Banner across upper part with "Motto" that reads "IGNIS AURUM PROBAT" the design on the shield has flames across the lower part and there is a human arm raised out of them holding a lightning bolt , they were stationed at several overseas bases during ww-2 started otu flying A-20 then converted to A-26 , the bases were Raf Wetherfield, A-55 Melun France,A-69 Laon/Athies France and A-59 Pontoise/Cormielles en Vexin France.
if you know anything of this design Please contact me, thank you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was good to see you on FaceBook. I am new to it so just learning how it works. I will call you when I am up that way. What is a good number?
Have found a few people from Rockwood and have tried to communicate but i don't get on face book as much as I thought I would.
Spend most of my time writing.

Sir,
I am in your immuno-class but discovered your web page only today.
My father was a world 11 vet, while I am a vietnam
and gulf war (1990) medic.
I served in Okinawa (1967-1969) and Patrick Air Force Station at Cape Canaveral from 1969-1970 working on Minuteman 111 MIRV research.
Perhaps more interesting to you would be the potential for genocide that we (498th tactical tactical missle Group, commanded by Lt. Col Spears, during the years 1967-1969
There are not a whole lot of us left, but contrary to my MOS, I was not in missle electronics. I was secondary launch officer under the two man system required by all crews (SAC included).
I am interested in bringing this to your attention because of the many lies produced during the Johnston administration.
To wit: The United States had no nukes in Japan.(lie)
2. The United States would never initiate a preemptive strike. (I practiced many).
Our targets were military in nature. My targets were cities.

The combined nuclear strike on North Korea and China would have produced more than 40 million dead and wounded, as we were using 1.2 megaton Mark 1 thermonuclear weapons.
I have never discussed this before but my security clearance has long since ran out, but somebody should know about this portion of our Cold war history.
Sincerely: William Stoffs, Captain,
U.S.A.F. AF16929119

I WAS RECENTLY APPROACHED AT A PARTY BY DR LARRY SMITH, AN OLD ACQUAINTTANCE, WHO ASKED ME TO BUY HIS BOOK. I DECIDED TO RISK TEN DOLLAARS ON A USED COPY. AFTER READING TWO CHAPTERS I CALLED LARRY AND TOLD HIM I LIKED IT; HE WAS PLEASED.
I NEVER WANTED TO BE A PILOT, BUT ENJOY READING ABOUT WWII AVIATION EXPLOITS AND THE PERSONAL HISTORIES OF THOSE INVOLVED.
THE BOOK IS QUITE WELL WRITTEN. THE TITLE, THE INTRODUCTION, AND THE SHORT HISTORY ARE AN

OVERVIEW OF THE BOOK. THE BOOK IS ABOUT THE THE HISTORY OF AN ATTACK BOMBER GROUP. THEIR HISTORY IS INTERWOVER WITH THE TOPIC OF EUGENICS WHICH IS CONSIDERED FROM ALL SIDES AS WELL AS THE GERMANS.
I HAVE VISITED MANY OF THE FRENCH WAR SITES BY BIKE AND GERMAN SITES BY CAR. A MAP IS USFUL HELP WHILE READING THE BOOK.
THE BOOK IS A TAD LONG, BUT WISH HAD PURCHASED A NEW COPY AS THE PHOTOS WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER REPRODUCED. CONGRATULATIONS LARRY ON AN EXCELLENT CONTRIBUTION, WELL RESEARCHED, AND A SPECIAL ADDITION TO MY LIBRARY.

Dr Smith,I just got your book Darwin's War. My father Ross H. Cornell was a pilot in the 416th. His plane was shot down 3-18-1945, 65 years ago to the day almost. How fitting that your book would arrive at this time. Your description of his experience that day over Worms is amazingly close to all the accounts I heard from him over the years, especially considering that you never had a chance to speak with him. He died in 2002. I am looking foreward to reading the entire book. Thank you for so accurately preserving these significant events of WWII which were also major events in my fathers life. Stephen Ross Cornell
